Practice Guidelines
Our therapists are qualified social workers, counselling and clinical psychologists, mental health therapists, marriage and relationship counsellors who are experienced and trained in the specialties in which they operate in providing quality mental health care services to clients.

Code Of Ethics
Dolly and Associates Limited is governed by the laws and ethical requirements of Trinidad and Tobago within which the practice resides.

Confidentiality
Confidentiality is an essential part of all counselling and psychotherapy. It underpins the client’s sense of safety and trust and contributes to making the therapeutic relationship different from any other.   Dolly and Associates Limited holds all records securely and will ensure confidentiality in the treatment of any information held about its clients, in line with the Client Code of Ethics.

All information will be kept confidential unless the client and therapist agree to discuss something with a third party.  Where appropriate a consent form will be used.  The only reasons for breaking confidentiality would be if the therapist considered that your life was at risk, if another person’s life was at risk or if the therapist was liable to civil or criminal court proceedings if the information was not disclosed.   If at all possible this would be discussed beforehand.

Anti-discrimination policy
Dolly and Associates Limited is strongly committed to anti-discrimination.  It values difference and diversity and does not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender and gender identity, sexual preference or orientation, marital/partnership status, religion, race, colour, national origin, disability, heritage or political belief.

Payments
We require all payments related to your session at Dolly and Associates Ltd be made at the end of each session. You will be provided with a receipt as an acknowledgement of your payment.

Schedule Changes & Cancellations
We set aside time for you for any scheduled appointments you make and thereby request that any notification of cancellation or any changes in schedule be given at least 24 hours before a scheduled appointment is set to take place.   Any changes in schedule or cancellations made within 24 hours of an appointment will be charged for in full unless an agreement has been made between Dolly and Associates and you, the client.   Any missed appointments will also be charged in full.   For all scheduling changes, we require a minimum notice of 24 hours.

      • If your therapist identifies you as a serious danger to yourself or others, or determines you are “gravely disabled” (i.e. unable to care for yourself)
      • Your therapist is required by law to break confidentiality in order to protect you, or protect others from you.
      • Your therapist is also held responsible by law to report you to the appropriate authorities if you reveal any involvement in child or elderly abuse.

Children’s Privacy
This site is intended for adults.  We never ever collect or maintain information from any individuals we actually know to be under the age of 18 and no content on this site is written or designed to attract viewers below that age limit.  By using this site and our services, you indicate that you meet or are above the required age limit.

Mental Health Services
While it may not be easy to seek help from a mental health professional, it is hoped that through therapy you will change in the following ways:

      • gain greater insight into your situation and feelings.
      • develop expanded conceptualizations of your life, relationships, circumstances, and future.
      • move toward resolving your concerns.
      • forge a life plan that promotes greater realization of your human potential, happiness, and success.

As your therapist, we will make observations about situations as well as offer suggestions for new ways to approach them.  It will be important for you to explore your own feelings and thoughts and to try new approaches in order for change to occur.  You may bring other family members to a therapy session if you feel it would be helpful or if recommended by your therapist.
